In 1995, Ellen Siegel met Teresa Stewart when they served on the Board of Directors for Bravo Centre for the Arts.  Over the years they became good friends,   sharing a common goal of supporting children’s theater.  When Teresa’s son Luke was diagnosed with a Sensory Integration Disorder, and no weighted, tactile aid was available for him, it became their mission to create and make available a multi-purpose blanket which might one day be available to all children.  SOS Blankets, LLC was born.  Together it is their mission to make sure all children needing this valuable aid have it.

Teresa Stewart

Co President

Retail and Marketing Manager

Teresa Stewart Co-founded SOS Blankets, LLC in February of 2005.  With 13 years of business management and marketing experience, Ms. Stewart is an expert in administration and advertising.  Her background as a manger in the retail industry, as well as her expertise in program development, made  management the perfect sector for her to oversee, in the development of SOS Blankets, LLC

Previously, Ms. Stewart worked in the retail industry, as a Store Manager, until she was offered the opportunity to develop programs for families and youth at a large ELCA church.  Her involvement with the            community, especially with youth, reinforced her desire to make a difference in the lives of children.

As the mother of a child with a Sensory Integration Disorder, Ms. Stewart began researching and studying its effects to determine the best possible treatments.  Intrigued and determined to find solutions the concept of SOS Blankets emerged.

Ms. Stewart has attended many seminars related to team building and the initiation of change.  These   opportunities where provided during her position as  Program Developer at an ELCA church. Ms. Stewart has a Degree in Business Administration through Florida Metropolitan College.

Ellen Siegel Co-founded SOS Blankets, LLC in February of 2005.  With 11 years of design experience, Ms. Siegel is an expert in artistic design and creation.  Her background in the medical field, as well as her expertise in costume and interior design , made the creation of an aesthetic sensory blanket a perfect fit.

Why SOS Blankets LLC

In today’s world, many of us experience profound stress in our everyday lives. The constant hustle, bustle and insane schedules put many adults especially those that are parents on daily sensory overload. So, it may be hard to understand a child’s world of exploration and constant newness.

Discovery of two sensory disorders, Sensory Integration Dysfunction and Sensory Processing Disorder (the inability of the brain to correctly process information brought in by the senses; symptoms can range from mild to moderate to severe) explains how some children and adults live in a totally confusing and different world. The stories can go from minor to extreme.

Many professionals believe these sensory disorders cause problems with sleep patterns, attention and focus, and even nutrition. If you identify with any of these symptoms in yourself, your child, or someone you know help may be as easy as ordering your own SOS Blanket.
